March Workshop Club Information

In March we get to make these beautiful pages and cards from the Veranda papers offered by Close to my Heart. I am so excited to do such an elegant layout and fun springy cards. Along with the basic things that we talked about needing for the class at our February meeting, we will also need a few other things. So I am posting them here so you can be prepared and call me if you need to.
The first thing I found that we will want is the StazOn Brown ink pad. I've been looking for an excuse to purchase this, so I will provide one. The other inks are : Creme Brulee, Garden Green, and Tulip. You will want to bring your edge distresser! It's either that or use scissors - ick! The pictures needed for the layout are 7X5, and 3) 3 1/2 X 3. We will also be using the chocolate alphabet E1010 to do our title. If you have any of these supplies, bring them along, if not, you know I'll share! The cards are so cool! I can see that we are going to be using some fun new techniques to dress them up and I think you will be blown away by how pretty these are in person. The metal embellishments really add so much to the cards! I can't wait to do these.

And, don't forget to plan for the Stamp of the Month in March. This awesome sentiment stamp set that is so versatile with a very funky font (I love fonts!) This one was used the day - no kidding- the day I took it out of the box in January. I love new toys! This is the information to get you ready for March. Rapid City meets on the 21st, and Sturgis meets on the 24th.
If you are not a member of my Workshop Club, and would like to join us, please feel free to contact me.

February Card challenge

Well, in case you didn't notice, I am late getting this done this week. Unfortunately, I had some technical problems Thurs and Fri, and today was spent preparing for the BUNCO girls to show up at my house. I won a big prize this month, but I am still glad that it is over.

I hope everyone is prepared for Club tomorrow (today?) Don't forget to bring your swap cards! Rapid City girls are bringing 5 weather you are in the afternoon or the evening club, and Sturgis girls will be bringing 8 on Wed.
*
I also wanted to review the basic kit that I recommend everyone have every month. 12" paper cutter, scissors, pencil, bone folder, adhesive, if you have them you may also want to bring blocks, an edge distressing tool, piercing tool and mat, markers, corner rounder, and a stamp cleaner. Pictured is my basic kit.

This week is the week that I post my card challenge. HHMMMMM? Let me look and see what I can find. I found this site last week, and they have some fun challenges. How about you go check this out and do your card with this sketch http://http//jacksonbelleembellishments.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/jacksonbelle-tuesday-challenge-and-blog-hop/ I hope this works and I am not breaking any rules, I just think they have some fun things happening on their blog. I'm feeling really springy too, let's use some Key Lime and/or Taffy papers and for embellishments, let's use some edge anchors. And our theme, Spring of course! Anything spring or baby! New life. Boy, am I an optimist!! I'm just tired of the snow.

I am busy packing for the HEART OF THE HILLS WINTER RETREAT! I should start that with 'second annual' probably, but it already has quite a name! I am so excited to spend a quiet (?) weekend working, uninterrupted, on my projects. This is going to be great! There are 16 of us spending the weekend at Storm Mountain, and I know they are getting ready for us too! Don't forget to narrow down your plan to 1 or 2 things and focus on those . You will feel much more productive that way. (I am planning on working on DS's Scout album and these challenges!!)
Looking forward to a great week, and hoping to get more scrapping done this week than I did last week! See you soon, connie

I hope everyone is having fun playing with the challenges I've given you. We are into a new month, and that means new challenges, but first I thought I would share with you a card I made for some customers at my day job who have birthdays this month. I wish I was getting points for this one, but I don't think I do. ;-) I am still using REALLY OLD CTMH B&T papers up. I have so much that I purchased early in my consultant days. This is a polka dotted OCEAN paper. I will be glad when I have used up all of the old papers. Not that they aren't great, but I promised myself 'no new papers other than club until some of the old is gone.' Bummer! ha ha

Reminder: Rapid City Club is meeting on February 21. Afternoon club starts at 1:00 and evening club starts at 5:30. I hope these times are working well for everyone. They seem to be working for me. We can always tweek them if we need to.
Sturgis Club is meeting at 6:30 on Feb. 24.

Rapid Hearts donated 26 cards to the KSLT card drive for the elderly this month. If you know of a cause that our group can help, please let me know. I love that we can contribute to the community.

The Heart of the Hills Winter Retreat has 16 people registered and planning to attend. I am so excited. With a 20 person cap and this only being my second year, I am thrilled to see how it has grown. I hope all of you will look at FEB 2011 and see which weekend will work for you. We will be discussing this at club so I can reserve our spot before we leave that weekend!! Let's have a full house next year!

Book of Me - the challenge this month is to do a page about people you care about. Not family, not husbands or kids. Who is your friend or friends. How did they come into your life. What do they bring to the table that keeps them in your life. Do you have a funny story about them? Why are they so special to you?
How about we use BLUE on this page , throw in some hidden journaling for 2 bonus points!
That is the newest information for February! I hope you all have fun thinking about your friends. (give them a call, let them know how much you love them!)

Information for February

A new month for the Rapid Hearts Clubs. I am so excited to add this new dimension to our relationship. And February is all about relationships isn't it? There is so much to share every month, that I thought we should just have access to information when ever we want, not just when I get around to writing a newsletter, so here it is! A Blog! Who would have guessed?

Rapid City Club is Feb. 21 at 1:00 and 5:30.
Sturgis Club is Feb. 24 at 5:30.

This month, our paper pack is the Caboodle paper. What wonderful, warm springtime colors we get to play with! To make things move along as well as we can, you may want to bring some acrylic blocks, your Cocktail alphabet (if you have it), some ink pads ... Crystal Blue, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf, and Vanilla Cream. Some Sweet Leaf ribbon and a sea sponge (that is the round one we cut into 4 pieces)

As soon as I can figure out how to post it here permanently, I will post the point system for our challenges. You can do the Monthly Challenges all year long and still get points for them, so if you haven't done January's yet, don't panic! I would really like to have you send me a picture or scan of your challenge so I can post some artwork on my blog. This gives us a nice opportunity to share our talents. This month, I did recieve some art work from Denise K. from RC and she has given me permission to share it with you. I will be tallying her points in my little book. The prizes at the end of the year will make this so FUN!

This is Denise K.'s pink or red Valentine's Day card with NO HEARTS!

This is Denise K.'s first BoM page. I am so excited that she is going to be making one of these books. I love having a place to scrap just about me, and I'm sure you will too!
I am getting so excited for our Heart of the Hills Winter Retreat! February 26, 27, and 28 this year is going to be one of my favorite weekends! I am starting to get the prizes together and cut paper for the projects. And, I am going to try to throw out some hints to get you all on track for a productive weekend!
this week, my hint is .......
FOCUS - pick a theme, a time period, or a person and only try to work on that subject for the whole time you are there.
For me, having a specific theme keeps me on track and feeling like I am accomplishing something. I plan on working on my youngest son's scouting album, so I can get it finished before his Eagle Ceremony in May. What will you be working on?
Looking ahead .... Mark off May 1 on your calendar! NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY will be here before we know it and I don't want you to miss this fun day with your friends scrapping and laughing all day long.

the beginning

And so, this year we start on another adventure. Having accomplished my goals of keeping in contact with you, my customers and friends every week, all month long, I thought we should try this blog thing next! ha ha

Like the update letter I send you every week, this will be one of the things I will update every week and, if we are lucky, I may even figure out how to do some videos and play in some blog hops with the big girls! I hope you will join me on this new adventure and check back here often for inspiration and encourangment.
