Retreat Summary

After working on my niece's baby book all day today, I am ready to get some work done. I know, I should to that first, but Constance really likes to play first. Some weekends I just have to let her win.

I am finally going to get all the information on the retreat out for everyone to cheer over!

We made .........486 scrapbook pages! WOW! Can you say 'impressive'

We made ...... 104 cards .....again....WOW!

We made 4 trips to the main lodge for meals.

We had 2 cars go in the ditch

One of us walked almost 2 miles! ha ha Guess who?

We threw away 3 bags of trash at the end of the weekend.

No one got lost this year!

We had one BIG WIZ of the Crop! Kathy!

And Tara was the last one to finish a layout!

We watched 6 (?) movies.

I love being able to show you the beautiful building that we got to stay in. There were 16 of us, and of course, I was one of the last ones to leave and the first one to get there.

We had all the tools a girl could ask for. I think we had 3 big kicks, 5 cricuts, a sewing machine, 2 or 3 cuttlebugs, a gypsy, punches I've never even dreamed of and lots of paper and sharing of ideas all weekend long.
And a girl can't scrap without some sustenance! We had to have snacks all weekend! No one went hungry!

Everyone got a ton of things done and lots of giggling and chatting happened all weekend. Especially when Denise's banana was discovered!

Sometimes we worked late into the night and sometimes we were up at the wee hours of the morning. Some of us lucky people saw both parts of the day. I have to admit, I was exhausted when I got home and happy to have Gary taking care of things for the rest of the night.

March Layout challenge

Good evening everyone! I am going to get the blog updated before I run off to bunco and then settle in for an evening of card making. I am getting the last minute preparation done for club and catching up on some birthday cards this week.

I would like to share pictures of challenges from another participant this week. Kathy D from Sturgis has made several of the cards and pages and was nice enough to allow me to share them with you. This first page is about some special friends in Kathy's life, the February Bom challenge.
This page is Kathy's 10 challenge. She has made 10 new years resolutions. I think I will have to see how those are coming this month. LOL
And, finally, Kathy's valentine's cards that are pink and red with no hearts. I love these! I would never have thought to use our stamps this way. Way to go Kathy, I have points tallying for some prizes at the end of the year!

Well, last challenge of the month is the layout challenge and I know you are all waiting with baited breath! This week, let's create a page with the Fiesta layout from page 60 in the Imagine book. If you are a card maker, use the design from either page and create a card with that layout. Another example of this layout can be found in our current catalog on page 59. Of course, we need to shake it up a bit, and I am working with the veranda papers right now, so Let's use that color combination. Garden Green, Creme Brulee, brown, and tulip. It really is such a soothing palate! Let's create our page or card around a quote also. Any quote, maybe your favorite.

Well, because I still haven't figured out the blog thing completely yet, you get to see your card challenge first! I challenge you .... to make an easter (or spring) card using the 'First Impression' card design in the 'Originals' card book by CTMH. It is on page 11. Here is mine. I managed to use some of the Caboodle paper that I have left from last month's club (why don't you atleast use these colors!) and I got some of the bling from an old hostess gift on there too. I love these little bunny stamps from the Bunny Love B1324 set. This one sleeping in the egg is just sweet! Have fun with this challenge, and don't forget to send me a picture of your final creation!
Another week has passed and caught me on the weekend trying to catch up. I have had the great joy of working on my taxes this week. A job that reminds me every year that I really need to be better about paperwork. I dread doing the 'catch up' in Feb and March that I always end up doing. This year will be different (she says with determination!)

I have had the great fun of spending time with my sister, which doesn't happen nearly enough. We get very creative when we are together and she tends to get the juices flowing for me. My muse (ha ha ) She and I are planning on learning some beading in the next month or so. A talent I hope to showcase on some mini albums I am planning.

I am getting pumped up for the club meetings next week! We are working with some be-e-e-eutiful papers and I think the layout I am planning will be stunning! I am going to show off my great niece! I am going to use pictures her mommy posted on FB, and the layout will go in her album when I am done. Prepare to be amazed!! ;-) I will post them here too, so everyone will get to see her gorgeousness!

I received some challenge entries this week from Denise K. Her first one is the BoM challenge for Feb. A page about friends/people she cares about in her life. She used some blue on her page and LOOK AT THE DIMENSIONALS! Go Denise!

This layout is the childhood memory layout. Also for her BoM, I really like that she kept it so clean and simple, shifting the focus to the photo and the journaling.

And, finally, she did that card challenge for EARLY February, and went to the website I reccommended and did the 'joy fold' card. this is so blingy and fun! I love it.

And March moves on whether I am ready for it or not. I want to give you a quick rundown of my schedule this month. I am planning a Unit meeting for March 15, that won't affect most of you. I am planning don drinking green beer on the 17th to celebrate my awesome heritage, I will be playing with the Rapid City group on the 21st at Hardees ( please bring your challenges if you have done them) and I am playing with the Sturgis gals on the 24th (don't forget your challenges either!).
*
*
I am putting together a NEW MINI PAPER BAG ALBUM class for April. I hope to post pictures next week and entice all of you to come and play with me.
*
A brief reminder that MAY 1 is National Scrapbooking Day. I am planning a full day of Scrapping with at least on page project and one card project. I hope you will consider joining me. Cost will be $20. That includes the aforementioned projects, room to play with no "daily" interruptions, and lunch and snacks (of course!) Registration will start April 1.

Janae has participated in several of the challenges and I am fortunate enough to be able to show you some of her work. This is the BoM challenge for Feb. Make a page about a friend/someone you love, not family! I believe the color blue was encouraged.

A valentines day card with no hearts. Two are shown here, and I believe one is Janae's and one is LuAnn's. I will confirm that.

Now for this week's Challenge ..... Book of Me - Do a page about your favorite childhood memory. The first one that popped into your head when you read that challenge. Let's try to use some Amethyst paper and some Chrystal bling to top it off.
See you on the 21st and 24th!

Catching up

I am so sorry that you didn't hear from me last week. Getting ready for and attending the Heart of the Hills Winter Retreat really threw off my game and the blog was the last thing to go. Just ran out of time. I thought I would update from Storm Mountain, but , ahhh, no.

I will be posting an update on the retreat with pictures as soon as I get all the totals together to share with everyone. For now, let's just say there was plenty of food and plenty of pages were created!

So, now to the business at hand. At the February Clubs, we swapped cards! It was so fun to see what everyone else did! Rapid City swapped Birthday cards and I want to share those with you today. From left to right and top to bottom, these cards were created by Connie J, Luann, Denise K, Janae, and Carstin.
These cards were from the evening group. They were created by Connie J, Kimber H, Amanda D, Cindy R (?), and Cherryl. It is great to have a stock of homemade cards on hand for ideas and to hand out for those birthdays that sneak up on you. I love it.

Our last challenge for February (I know, your getting this late!) is the Designer Tab card in the Imagine book on page 125. I think this design could be translated to a scrapbook page very easily and I challenge you girls to try and do that. Since spring is on it's way (stop laughing!) let's put some custom colored flowers on this page too. Colors? how about greens and yellows.

There you go. The final entry in my blog for February (even if you are getting it in March) See you all Saturday morning for the first March entry!
